Welcome To The National Street Car Challenge

NSCC was born as an introduction to drag racing - a step where hotrodders could come along and learn the ropes of drag racing without the financial commitment of running in a MSA class. The series is all about making new friends, kicking their ass on the drag strip and then taking the piss out of them in the bar later. The social side of NSCC is every bit as important as the times run at the track. This year's field of cars range from 9-second to 20-second racers - there is no snobbery about who goes quickest, everybody just pitches in together and has fun!

To join the series you need a rear wheel drive car, the older the better. The bigger the engine you've shoe-horned into it the better, too. It needs to not only be street legal (tax, MoT, treaded tyres) but it has to be street proven too. To qualify you need to drive on at least two seperate cruises (different venues around the country) and to at least one show (ditto). You can trailer your car to the track if you want. Each cruise, show and race meet attracts points so your car has to be capable of doing all of these things reliably if you want to stand a chance of winning the series.

Nobody has ever won the series with the outright fastest car, so everybody is in with a chance. Entry costs just £10 for the year and each round is covered in HotRod Gazette. If you don't have a load of fun and a hangover, you're doing something wrong. Nomatter what time you run, a timing ticket is proof and inifinitely better than that bench racing bullshit we all hear of "oh it'd run nines if I could be bothered to take it up the track".

"And now I have my ticket, women will find me irressistable!"
